Wander Through Wandle

A sustainable strategy proposal for the people: Connecting back to nature through every day blue and green spaces

The strategy identifies the green assets that are under utilized within several boroughs along the Wandle River. It will look at addressing such as amenity and wildlife sites, green access routes, water features such as rivers and ponds and heritage assets, and aims to highlight spaces that are disconnected and fragmented from one another even in close proximity, to establish a connection that will bridge people together and reconnect with nature.

In Phase 1, the project will focus on addressing issues on the site in Wandsworth along the Wandle River at the Garratt Park Allotment spaces, pushing to reconnect green and blue spaces together in the site, as it exists with a strong base of multiple fragmented and isolated areas that don’t encourage engagement with nature, to a strategy and proposal where the river becomes the soul of life connecting what lays on each side of the river and therefore allowing for an ease of permeability of nature and people.
